Whitehill Hill Tools is a leading industrial tool manufacturer in the UK, with an opportunity for a Trainee 2D Cutter Profile Designer & Machinist who is keen to progress.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in 2D CAD drawing, although training will be provided. Strong attention to detail is also particularly important in this role.

In addition to CAD activities, the can chosen candidate will be required to liaise with customers to confirm technical drawings before going for manufacture. The tooling drawings are usually based on customer sketches or samples they have sent in.

As there will be direct contact with customers, an excellent telephone manner and a proactive approach are also essential.

Eventually, after a probation period and training part of the role will also be programme cutter paths for the robot-assisted CNC machine to run overnight.

There are so many different skill sets at Whitehill as we are predominately an engineering company, so this the perfect opportunity for someone with a willingness to learn.

Skills and Competencies 

  • Some experience with CAD software i.e. Autocad or Draftsight
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Competent computer skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as being part of a team
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on other duties as and when needed

Salary dependent on experience

Usual working hours 7.30 am – 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
